Crap! Our Blog's a Teenager!

Yes, today is the 13th blogiversary of World O' Crap, and in honor of this statistically unlikely occasion, I've mixed up a Luau Daiquiri* and lifted a toast to Sheri (s.z.) Zollinger, who began it all with this post back in 2003.

I'd say more, but I've been up since the pearly dawn, walking to and fro (actually, fro and to) a local, but not conveniently located, auto repair shop, and cruelly extending the suffering of our car through artificial means, because the stupid thing didn't have the foresight to sign a living will or a Do Not Resuscitate order. Also, Jeb Bush signed a law that made me do it.

Anyway, I racked up a good six miles on foot, according to the GPS in my phone, and the demented shrieking in my lower spine, so I'm just going to sip my cocktail, and thank everyone for sticking with us through our incontinent infancy, our terrible twos, our fairly adorable elementary school days, our precocious, yet dangerously hormonal tween years, and now what promises to be our flat out insufferable teens.

Parental discretion (and cocktails) advised.

[Oh, what the hell. Here's a flashback to an old Dr. Professor Mike Adams, Ph.D. column, because somebody linked to it and it's getting a lot of traffic today for reasons that escape me. Enjoy!]

*2 oz. white rum
3/4 oz. fresh lime juice
3/4 oz. fresh orange juice
1/2 oz. vanilla syrup
Tools: shaker, strainer
Glass: coupe
Garnish: edible orchid (sub with a lime wheel if you don’t have an orchid or aren't unbearably twee)
Shake ingredients together in a shaker with ice. Strain into a chilled glass and garnish.

Happy thirteen! Mine turned twelve this month and fortunately, it discovered the basement video game room so it's been quietly sitting in there, destroying aliens. Or something. The cops haven't come so I don't really care.

Many thanks to Sheri for founding this blog, and an equally large dollop of thanks to Scott and Mary for keeping it running. It can be a wearying world, and when you see a new post here, it's a real and significant lift.

To many more years!

Incidentally, the bar to prove you aren't a robot seems pretty low. No questions about helping turtles or only the good thoughts you have about your mother, just clicking a box. Somebody better get on this or we'll have endless soliloquies about attack ships on fire and glittering C beams clogging up comments.

MB: We'd love to get a drink, teef or no teef.

Premature (by the year, yet belated by one month. It is a puzzlement) mazel tov, Carl!

Doc, you're right, but we're android friendly, and want to create a safe space for replicants to play and crush our skull between their thighs.

"...and crush our skull between their thighs."

I can't tell if you're rifling through the tattered rolodex in my head of my so-called "glory days" or just wanting to re-watch "Cherry 2000," Scott!

(But I never could resist such a good set-up... heh.)

Mazeltov, hope that you skip the bris, best wishes, congratulations, and most of all, Sheri, Mary & Scott, thank y'all and all the old regs & new folk for giving me a true home on teh innernet toobs, where no matter how infrequently I visit, I always feel welcome and get to release a few (far too rare) heartfelt gut-laughs.

All my love,

You can run the "HAPPY HAPPY JOY JOY" in yer own heads, it's not nearly as much fun without the colored fonts...

Happy blogiversary! I avoided any significant blogging year numbers by re-starting mine repeatedly and shifting platforms a couple of times. So it's still like 5.

13 ! Mazel Tov. Today you are a man. Or something - my heritages tend to get confused.
All adolescents are a pain in the tochas anyway - please be the exception to this rule, as you have been to so many others. Thank you to Sheri, Scott and Mary (and Moondoggie, Riley (RIP), shadow)for providing me (and more than a few others)with a safe place to call home and barrels of Laffs over the years.Even if I never see the movies, I always enjoy the reviews < This is a metaphor, as well as being literal, I'm just not sure what it's a metaphor OF.
Thanks and all the best.
