A local weekly newspaper that ran the Barber column last week asked me to upgrade my letter to the editor (which is similar to what I posted above) as a full-blown op-ed.Just a heads-up: the link opens a pdf, which I know annoys some people, but I found Joann's piece to be very interesting and well worth reading, inasmuch as I'm not a Bible scholar, and woefully ill-equipped to challenge Bam Bam on whether he's misquoting the Vulgate. Plus, the Westchester Guardian has an exclusive expose on the unusual degree to which July is sizzling in the Empire City Casino at Yonkers Raceway, beginning with Eddie Money and The Spin Doctors, then remorselessly increasing the temperature with successive appearances by The Marshall Tucker Band, Frankie Avalon, and The Village People, before finally incinerating the audience with a flaming, sunspot-like gout of Pat Benatar. Survivors are expected to spend the first two weekends in August recovering in the burn ward to the soulful song stylings of Otis Day & the Knights and Country favorite Sara Evans.
It's at pages 15-16 of their new (July 5, 2012) issue:
and it is immediately followed by a letter to the editor from the E.D. of my local LGBT Center.

Fighting Fire -- Well, Stupidity -- With Fire
Attorney/blogger/amateur theologian Joann Prinzivalli of Trans-Cendence left a couple of very interesting comments on this post, and since Bam Bam is rapidly sinking beneath the fold, I wanted to give her last remark a bump:
